FAQ Episode 1: Introduction to the FAQ for Natural Migraine Relief series
FAQs for Natural Migraine Relief for Women
Hi! This is Jeff Baker, the physician host for this blog series: Natural Migraine Relief for Women - Frequently Asked Questions.
This blog is an extension of a course I teach: Natural Migraine Relief for Women, which is aimed at:
1. helping women to understand the underlying root causes of their migraines,
and then
2. assisting them to individualize the applicable non-drug strategies aimed at managing their migraine root cause factors, and in that process reduce or clear their migraine headaches.
This blog site is an extension of that course, answering the ‘Frequently Asked Questions” I get from patients and course participants. I hope that our discussion is also helpful for those of you in the general public with an interest in non-drug therapy options for women with migraine. You are invited to subscribe to this substack ‘Natural Migraine Relief for Women: FAQs’ blog at no charge. I also have a youtube channel with the same content at nmr.hopp.to/youtube
I’ve been addressing headaches and hormones for my patients for the past 35 years, well before I wrote this course. One thing I’ve encountered time after time with both hormone balance and headache management is that there are no two people with the same story or the same exact root cause elements. This is my ‘why’ in caring for my patients, or in writing this course: finding individualized healthcare solutions for one-of-a-kind people. There is some information about who I am at the end of this blog entry.
In the Natural Migraine Relief course, we cover 26 Lessons, 10 major underlying root cause factors for migraine, 60+ specific related health factors or comorbidities, and over 90 potential interventions, along with 6 resource sections. It's a deep dive, with boatloads of information on why women have migraines, featuring specific and practical non-drug interventions that make a difference.
Not all of that information in the course applies to every student, but some of it will apply to each student. Isn’t it interesting how some potential root cause problems may only affect 1% of those with migraine, but for that 1% person, it may be 100% true and applicable to them? Maybe you are that someone. That 1% sliver of truth can totally change the plot of your story, especially when you think of how devastating migraine pain can be in every aspect of life.
So, what part applies to which person? If we knew that already, we would be psychic, right? Well, it’s not paranormal, but this program is different. A key element of this course is a unique tool I call the Migraine Action Plan ©. This MAP helps students to self-tailor which of the relevant interventions is the most applicable for their own migraine story.
I get a wide range of questions from course registrants and other interested parties that deserve to be addressed within the same context and perspective for which I wrote this course. I will be posting answers and comments on these inquiries as ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ at least weekly here and on my youtube channel, so make sure to like and subscribe to this channel if you would like to see weekly casts of this series. Who is Jeff Baker M.D.? About the Author.
I’m a practicing M.D. physician with additional Master’s degree training in physiology and immunology. My research-based experience during my medical education left me with a lifelong interest in the underlying biochemical causes of health problems. Over the years I’ve specialized in Family Medicine, delivered babies, assisted surgery, sub-specialized in Sports Medicine, and have 25 years of part-time ER work experience (over 2000 12 hour shifts). In all, almost 40 years of day-in and day-out direct patient care. From within this experience, I’ve spent almost 35 years directing the individualized use of bio-identical hormone therapy for my female patients. It was the use of this tool that sparked my interest in migraines, as most of my migraine patients were women, and the majority of them had some degree of direct hormonal influence on their migraine expression. Over the course of my career, I have also had thousands of encounters with patients suffering migraine headaches, in both clinic and ER settings.
Over the last 2-3 years I put together what I’ve learned from my patients over the last few decades concerning the root cause factors that drive migraine expression. The result is the Natural Migraine Relief course from which this FAQ blog is derived. If you have an interest in knowing more about these factors, and the self-individualized format I’ve developed for understanding which therapies have the best chance of relieving one’s migraines, take a look at the course description at: www.naturalmigrainerelief.online
